Nigerian National Sports Commission president Patrick Ekeji believes that the Nigerian athletes will do well at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore between Aug. 14-26, local media reported on Saturday.
Ekeji expressed his optimism in an address to the country's 22-member delegation, comprising 18 athletes and four officials, at a send-off held in Lagos on Friday.
The Nigerian athletes would compete in athletics, badminton, boxing, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling in Singapore.
"The program will help in grooming formidable athletes for competitions like the Commonwealth and Olympic Games," said Ekeji. |
